Norsk Bergmekanikkgruppe så dagens lys i 1968 og har i dag om lag 300 medlemmer fra både konsulent-, byggherre- og entreprenørsiden, samt fra forsknings- og utdanningsmiljøer.

NBGs formål er å samle alle norske bergmekaniske og ingeniørgeologiske interesser i felles arbeid for å lette utveksling av kunnskap og erfaring omkring bergmekaniske og ingeniørgeologiske spørsmål. I tillegg representerer vi landet internasjonalt.

Foreningen er tilsluttet International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering.

The Norwegian Group for Rock Mechanics
The Norwegian Group for Rock Mechanics, NBG saw the light of day in 1968 and today has around 350 members from both the consulting, client, and contractor sides, as well as from research and educational environments.

The main purpose of NBG is to bring together all Norwegian rock mechanics and engineering geology interests in joint work to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience regarding rock mechanics and engineering geology issues. NBG arrange competence courses, conferences and seminars that embrace the entire rock mechanics industry in Norway, but they also host several international rock mechanics conferences.

In addition, NBG represents the country internationally and is the Norwegian National Group to the International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM).
